I thought about posting this with the other pictures, but I really wanted to make it its own post. I just thought it was really ironic that I go to Chile, and what do I buy? Things from Japanese pop culture, of course!
Here we have a display figure of Tidus from Final Fantasy X, and a replica of the Ocarina of Time from the Legend of Zelda series. The ocarina is a clay flute, by the way. I’m saying this for my family who is reading, most of my friends reading are nerdy enough to know all of this already. Am I right? =D
My friend Daniel told me about an anime store (for the family: more Japanese pop culture stuff) he found in Los Leones (A metro map is coming soon, I promise!). So we dropped by that section of the city on our way home from another outing, and looked for a solid 30-45 minutes for the place. After we had checked all of the places we’d been before, we gave up… only to find that it was directly across from the metro entrance haha. We went in and checked it out, and the other stores nearby- like the one that sold me the figurine.
I found the ocarina at a native Chilean art exhibit/store right beside Santa Lucía hill. There was a man of a native people there that was making them and playing them. There were tons of different sizes, and dozens of different ocarinas, none exactly alike. I think he made and painted all of them. My camera battery was dead, or I would have taken a picture of his selection. There were only a few Zelda replicas, the rest were mostly brown and painted with native art. They were really inexpensive, too. Mine was only $5, and the most expensive one was $6 (3000 pesos).
