This is one of my favorite pictures from Nicaragua. I’m in Chile now, so I’ll be writing mostly about that, but I’ll occasionally tell stories from Nicaragua, or I might go back and cover it all before I tell you what’s happening here (the first one is more likely to happen).
This little girl is Brenda, one of the people I met in Nicaragua. On this particular day, we were traveling to a place called Rio Viejo, the most remote of remote locations. We climbed in the beds of two pickup trucks to get there, because the bus couldn’t cross over the fields and other obstacles we had to traverse to get there- and I saw that bus handle some really tough terrain.
